Together we take care of the environment
Environmentally conscious entrepreneurship with care for nature is crucial for the future of our planet. This is why Libéma undertakes business with an eye for climate, nature and biodiversity. Making a lasting contribution to the preservation of endangered species and nature conservation is a major focus point.
We ourselves try, within our means, to contribute as much as possible to these goals. We also want to inspire our visitors, employees and suppliers to get involved themselves. We do this by setting a good example, but also by informing others about the possibilities and motivating them to get involved.

Nature Conservation
The zoos are members of the European association EAZA, through which we join with more than 300 other European zoos and aquariums to work for species conservation, nature protection, research and education. We also do what we can at the other locations for nature conservation, for example by giving flowers and plants space at our parks that encourages native flora and fauna.

Stichting Wildlife
Stichting Wildlife has been committed to various nature conservation projects at home and abroad on behalf of Libéma animal parks for many years. The volunteers of this foundation also organize all kinds of activities in Safaripark Beekse Bergen, Eindhoven Zoo, ZooParc Overloon and AquaZoo Leeuwarden.

Sustainable construction
All locations built since 2018 are all electric. The kitchens of our restaurants cook only with electricity. The new vacation homes are equipped with heat pumps. The new stables are also heated electrically, as are the swimming pools.

Green energy
Where possible, we strive to generate our own energy. For example, there are over 40,000 square meters of solar panels on the roofs of Expo Greater Amsterdam and the Brabanthallen.

Green Key
All of our locations have the highest achievable Green Key Gold Certificate. Green Key is the international seal of approval for sustainable businesses. It is part of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE): one of the world's largest organizations for environmental education. To carry this label, companies must comply with mandatory and optional measures related to environmental care and Corporate Social Responsibility.

Preventing waste
We believe it is important to use resources as sparingly as possible and to reuse products whenever possible. Therefore, visitors at all our locations can hand in their empty drinking bottles and cans, we collect cell phones and use rainwater to water the plants. At AquaZoo, we plant old Christmas trees in the park as greenery. Manure from zoo animals is reused as soil nutrients at nurseries.
